✨ UPCYCLING 2024 RECAP ✨ Another year under our belts. It’s been full of fun projects for customers and myself. I took some time off this summer-winter for a few reasons but mainly to enjoy more time with my kiddos. Inez started her first year at a fantastic school that she loves so much. I am doing my second year of teaching kids to sew by hand and on the machine. And another year as a Husqvarna Viking ambassador 🎉 The year ended with quite a lot of challenges and a major family loss. I look forward to moving forward in this new year. Without hardships I would never have started my business which brings me so much. From scraps to wraps 🎁 This year I decided to make out own wrapping “paper.” I didn’t know what my kids would think of it but they know my business is about repurspoing so it was fitting to test it out. I originall was going to make reusable drawstring bags but then I remember the joy I had as a kid when opening a present 🎁✨ I have a lot of scraps from past projects so I patchworked them together to make different size gift wrap. I think it was a huge success! I enjoyed wrapping and they enjoyed opening! 🎁🎄💚❤️ I did run out of time to make enough to wrap all the gifts so I’ll be making another set next year! MERRY CHRISTMAS! This year I made my wrapping “paper” from upcycling an old robe 🎁 I also wanted these to be versatile so each square can wrap a small gift but button them together to make larger to wrap medium-large size gifts! Use before and after use as a table runner or decorative throw. I also had the idea of buttoning onto a throw pillow. I’ll try that out next year! This was my prototype so there are a few kinks to work out. Overall I was really happy with how they turned out. Completing my first pair of boots 👢👢 These are the second pair of shoes I ever made 🪡🧵 made from old leather hood, thrifted coat and left over canvas that I machine embroidered. Part 8: The finale These heels aren’t the exact style I would have invisioned but I didn’t have many options. And I wasn’t able to find any heels from the USA so I ordered these from the Ukrain back when I ordered the shoe last (the foot mold for my sneakers). I ordered a size 36 shoe last and size 36 soles. Ooops! I messed up 🤦‍♀️ I had never made a pair of shoes before so I wasnt aware that I should have first measured my shoe blank (the finished shoe before the soles are added) and then ordered the sholes. So I all 5 of my soles are 1/4” too small and I can’t return them. Oh well, I know for next time. They still fit and are comfortable. I was going to make this a 2 part video but I know you all have been waiting long enough for the reveal!
